Ready for some some summer heat?
Well, we’re betting that new nightclub Steam Miami is hoping you are.
Located in the former Vagabond Miami space, details on the club are a bit scarce. But the owners, who sources say are from Las Vegas, plan to open in “Summer 2014.”

From the images being used to promote the new party spot, it seems as though the club is going for a mixture of high- and low-brow aesthetics — we could only describe it as a South Beach meets downtown Miami. In fact, the artwork reminds us a lot of Revolver’s Pawn Shop Lounge days. But whether Steam can usher in a new era in Miami’s hipster nightlife remains to be seen.
Long-standing nights like Revolver, Poplife, Spider-Pussy, and Back Door Bamby are long gone, and what has remained is a smattering of one-offs or non-branded events. Still, promoters like Slap & Tickle, Safe, and PL0T have kept things interesting on the mainland.
Steam might also signal a renaissance of the NE 14th Street district. The area was once home to great nightclubs like Vagabond, I/O Lounge, White Room, Bar, PS14, and Pawn Shop. These days, almost everyone has left — though The Nest, located in the former Johnny’s space, is gaining traction and Steam could provide a necessary boost.
Let’s also not forget that Space and Emi Guerra have been throwing some fucking amazing parties at Ice Palace Studios — like Deadmau5’s free show and Enter Miami with Richie Hawtin during WMC 2014.
Maybe 14th Street is ready for a comeback.
