It was billed as a “private” performance. But unless you’re one of those rule-watching wimps with way too much respect for authority, you snuck onto the University of Miami campus to see November 5’s free homecoming concert starring Lauryn Hill. We did. And we brought back a recap, some photos, and a couple of videos to prove it.

Now Ms. Hill’s back, headlining the annual, two-day Jazz in the Gardens festival at Sun Life Stadium. And this time everybody’s invited, not just UM faculty, alumni, students, and staff. But there’s another difference … Where a trip to the U’s Foote Green cost nothing, a day in the Gardens will run you $54.50 to $81.

Oh well, Hill’s worth it. She’ll play March 19 alongside Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, and more. See the cut for the full festival lineup.
