Like a lot of other post-millenial musicians, 21-year-old dubstepper Jakwob (AKA James Jacob) is an internet-made man.

A year and a half ago, nobody really knew his name. Hailing from the English Midlands, he was just another university student who sidelined as a laptop producer.

But then things changed: He MySpace stalked a few famous pop music names, scored some accapella tracks, and banged out a bunch of unauthorized remixes.

Within weeks, the blogosphere went wacko for Jakwob’s work — namely his sunny, future-drunk deconstruction of Ellie Goulding’s synthy single “Starry Eyed.”

Soon, he started earning shout-outs from some of England’s preeminent culture connoisseurs, including the BBC’s Annie Mac, NME, and Dazed & Confused. Seizing the opportunity, the kid quickly dropped another batch of remixes — Kid Sister, Robyn, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and more — as well as a debut single, “Here With Me.”

Now he’s about to drop a full slab. So go quick and catch Jakwob this Saturday before he rides another web wave to total fucking internet fame.

Jakwob with Calguila, Troy Kurtz, Pirate Stereo, Magoula, and Goodroid. Saturday, January 15, at Eve, 1306 N. Miami Ave., Miami. The party starts at 10 p.m. and tickets cost $10. Ages 21 and up. Call 305-995-5050 or visit miamieve.com.
