Following his stops at Gloria Estefan’s house and a fundraiser at the swanky Fontainebleau President Obama is coming back to Miami for the the third time this year for yet another cash grab. Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mourning will host the even at this house on October 11.
The event will benefit the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the re-election campaign of Boca Raton-area Democrat Rep. Ron Klein.
We’re certainly always honored when the President of the United stops by for a quick visit, but since being elected Obama has only swung into town with the main reason of hobnobbing with the rich and famous and collecting their campaign cash.
That’s nice and all, but Miami is city rife with poverty and one of the hardest hit areas by the recession. So, it’s kind of disheartening he only pays us a visit to ask for money from the richest of the rich. Then again, he’s a busy man and there’s only so many days in the year. True, fundraising is a necessary evil in politics, but maybe partying it up at the Fontainebleau and rubbing shoulders with millionaires like the Estefans and Mournings isn’t the best impression to leave in the minds of local voters who desperately want a fix for the economy.
