Police have arrested a Miami Gardens man with a long record of felony charges in the brutal late-night shooting earlier this month that killed 24-year-old corrections officer Ciara Lee and her two-year-old son as they slept in their bedroom in Liberty City.
Henry A. Ferguson, a 22-year-old who was free on probation on a weapons charge at the time of the shooting, faces two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of Ciara and her son, Devin.
Ferguson, who was denied bail in court this morning, is a familiar face to police.
His record, dating back to 2007, shows arrests for loitering, burglary, cocaine possession and weapons violations. He was convicted in 2008 of illegally possessing a weapon as a felon, a status he earned by pleading guilty the year before to the robbery of tourists at Miami International Airport. (He got six years probation on the weapons charge.)

He’s also been on the other end of a shooting. On August 8, a man named Tyrance Golfin blasted 16 rounds from a Society Cab he’d commandeered into a car where Ferguson and a friend were sitting. Ferguson and his friend were both hit, but both survived.
Now police say Ferguson was behind the trigger on December 14, when someone pumped dozens of rounds from a high-powered rifle into Lee’s home in the Victory Homes project at 630 NW 73rd St.
Police say the shooting was part of a wild drug gang battle through the neighborhood that night and that Lee and her son weren’t the intended targets of the shootout.
Neither the police nor the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office have commented on Lee’s arrest as detectives try to find others involved in the shootout.
