Who says Coral Gables is stuffy? Um, just about everybody who doesn’t live there.

But this Saturday through Sunday, you can get down for free to some of the best local and national acts spread out across three big stages at Carnaval on the Mile.

Now if you want to catch all the acts, you’ll have to hydrate heavily. Luckily then, there will be a gazillion vendors in between to quench your thirst, get you fat, or make you buy some ugly shit you will never, ever wear again.

One of Crossfade’s favorite bands playing this weekend’s fest is the Legendary JC’s. Hailing from O-Town, this old-school soul review will make you groove like your parents, without the guilt. Plus, the singer, Eugene Snowden, is like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding’s love-child.

Next, you’ve got Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs, direct from New Orleans. If you diggy da trumpety jazz, then this young, dreadlocked blower is for you.

And third, there’s Thomas Wynn and the Believers. This guy looks like a little baby Jesus with a guitar and takes himself way too seriously. But dude can sing, and his band brings the goods.

Have fun, and wear your track shoes.
