Joaquin Serrapio Jr., the 20-year-old Miami college student who threatened to kill President Barack Obama in messages posted on Facebook and Twitter, will now plead guilty in the case. Serrapio, a local bar band musician who also went by the name of Jay Valor, wrote on Facebook back in February that he planned to put a bullet in Obama’s head while the president was speaking at the University of Miami.
“Who wants to help me assassinate Obummer while he’s at UM this week?” he wrote on Facebook last week two days before the president spoke in Miami.
“If anyone’s going to UM to see obama today, get ur phones out an record. Cause at any moment im gonna put a bullet through his head and u don’t wanna miss that! Youtube!” he posted the morning before Obama’s speech.
He also made similar threats on Twitter:

Serrapio, a fervent Ron Paul supporter, also had a history of making racist and violent messages on his @Jay_Valor Twitter account.
Serrapio was arrested at the home he shares with his mother. Police only found pellet guns at this home, and no evidence that he actually planned to make good on the threats. Though, they did find several text messages on his phone indicating that he was boasting about the plot.
Serrapio had previously plead not guilty, but according to NBC Miami will now plead guilty. He faces a maximum of five years behind bars.
