Amongst the worst places to base your drug dealing business: a cop’s house. Even if that cop is your own father.
Just ask Tyler Palmer. The 20-year-old son of a Miami-Dade Police major was busted yesterday afternoon for dealing drugs out of his family’s home.
The investigation was carried out by the Professional Compliance Bureau, also known as internal affairs. The bureau specifically deals in cases of police misconduct, indicating that this wasn’t a random happenstance. They knew they were dealing with an officer’s son.
The unit showed up at 2:35 p.m yesterday and searched Palmer’s bedroom. They found marijuana, plastic baggies full of cocaine, amphetamines, and magic mushrooms. Police say they also found and impounded $3,140 in cash. The officer’s home is located in Southwest Miami-Dade, according to the Miami Herald, though police generally keep officer’s exact home addresses confidential.

A black scale and a bong were also sitting out in the open on Palmer’s desk, police say.
Palmer was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of psilocybin (aka psychedelic mushrooms) with the intent to sell and possession of amphetamines. He’s since been released on $65,000 bond.
Palmer’s father is Major Arnold Palmer. The elder Palmer heads the department’s Economic Crimes Bureau. The father does not face any charges.
