Over the next few weeks, Short Order will be pairing eight Miami-Dade neighborhoods in a “Snackdown.” This is the second semi-finals entry. Today pits Coral Gables against Midtown/Design District/Wynwood. Which of these two is the better neighborhood for dining?

The voice of reason spoke and knocked Aventura and North Miami Beach restaurants out of our competition. But not without leaving behind a suitable candidate for this semi-finals round. Some of you even said the Midtown/Design District/Wynwood part of town is “the absolute best culinary scene in town.”

Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink calls the area home. The simple concept and crazy good food is what keeps everyone going back. The menu changes often so as long as you’re not a weekly visitor, you’re bound to try something new every time. Disappointment is never served though. You’ll have to look elsewhere for that.
Fans of Joey’s go nuts for their pastas but man oh, man, let’s talk about those handmade pizzas. A pizza carbonara with bacon, eggs and asparagus hits the spot every time. So does the diavola with spicy salami. Drooling yet?
Let’s put it this way, as long as you have the three main men behind your palate, you should be good. So far we have Michael, Joey, now we’ll introduce Jimmy, a Wynwood favorite. Simple, fresh and good are always on the menu at Jimmy’z Kitchen. It’s part bistro, part brasserie, all delicious.
