Gene charms his audiences with his brand of funny urban and Harvard-style of comedy. His acting credits include FOX’s America’s Most Wanted, where he appropriately plays an African hustler and USA’s hit TV show Burn Notice. Here’s how he pays the bills when he’s not entertaining crowds.
New Times: What job do you have to pay the bills?Gene Harding: I am a flight attendant.
Does it help or hurt your art?It helps my art cause people’s behavior on the plane is some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever seen.
What is the best thing about having a day job? Worst?The best thing about a day job is the medical/ flying benefits. The worst thing is having a day job.
How bad/good are you at your day job?I am pretty awesome at my day job. I almost wished I sucked so I can collect unemployment.
Have you ever blurred the lines of your day job and dream job?Yes,
the lines have been blurred sometimes. One time I almost grabbed the PA
on the plane and said “That’s my time, folks. Goodnight”…mid-flight!!
Have you planned your exit (F-you F-you, you’re cool, I’m out…sort of thing)?I plan my exit every single day, but I will not disclose it. Because it is REALLY gonna happen!
