Gregory Paul Nesbitt, 39, was found shot to death early yesterday morning in the lawn of a home owned by rapper Rick Ross in Miami Gardens. While it was originally reported that police wanted to speak to Ross himself about the incident, MTV News now reports that Ross is neither a suspect nor is he wanted any longer for questioning. Ross was not at the home during the time of the murder, and is no longer involved in the investigation. Ross is listed as the owner of the relatively modest home, but it does not appear that he lives there.

The house is occasionally used as a recording studio or lent out to member of Ross’s entourage, though.

Update: According to NBC Miami, police have spoken to Ross by phone, but actually do still want to talk to the rapper in person to determine if there was a connection between the victim and the person who was staying in the house.

The news is certainly good for Miami’s busiest rapper. He’s gearing up for the release of his fifth studio album, God Forgives, I Don’t, later this year.

Ross also appears in two videos released in the past 24 hours alone. The first for his latest teaser track, “Spend It Freestyle”:

And his second appearance comes during his verse during the latest Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo single “Think Like a Man.”
