When an elementary schooler with a knack for papier-mâché grows up, it’s only natural that the child fall into the Sacramento street art scene. Such was the case with world-renowned graffiti artist Neckface.
As a kid, Neckface loved making papier-mâché art, but as a teen, he started tagging building ’round California’s capital city. Soon his scratchy monsters and hauntingly captivating creatures were popping up in other cities, eventually making their way into galleries around the country.
Now Neckface is tackling film. He’s teamed up with with cult moviemaker Isaiah Seret for Born Under a Bad Sign, an action horror film about “Satan’s lonely solider,” premiering Thursday, December 1 at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts.

Neck Face X Isaiah Seret: Art in the Streets collab short film from Levi’s Film Workshop on Vimeo.
The horror film stars Neckface, Mindy Kelly, and stuntman Wayne Dalglish, and was shot on location at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Like Neckface’s work, it seems a little twisted but all the while entertaining.
