Father Alberto Cutie will lead a group of local luminaries — including Rabbie Shmuley Boteach (former Michael Jackson spiritual adviser) and CBS4 Morning Anchor Jawan Strader tonight at a fundraiser for a local nonprofit: Ax Sex Abusers Now.

The group, which doesn’t advocate violence, sponsors a team of first responders to speak with victims. It will hold the event — called Art Basel Aventura for a Cause — at 6:30 p.m. at Gallery Art, 20633 Biscayne Boulevard.

Cutie has long been a champion of such causes. He recently wrote “Dilemma, a Priest’s Struggle with Faith and Love.” He is also pastor of Church of the Resurrection in Biscayne Park and a board member of Ax Sex Abusers Now.

There will be a raffle, hors d’oeuvres and more. It is associated with Art Basel Miami Beach, which starts later this week. “Sex abuse is a national problem that needs to be addressed,” says Kim Goedde, also a member of the group’s board.
