Pain & Gain, the Michael Bay pet project starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson based on a Miami New Times story, released its first promo this afternoon. And it’s, uh, beefy.

The film, which shot on location in Miami back in April, isn’t due for release until next year; the official premiere date, announced today, is April 26, 2013.
The teaser poster doesn’t give much away — it’s a cheeky shot of a protein shake mix container featuring an absurdly muscular bicep fully flexed, with Wahlberg’s and Johnson’s names mixed in among advertising copy like “whey isolate” and “proprietary hydrogen relay for explosive results.”

Former New Times writer Pete Collins, whose three-part series of stories of the real-life bodybuilders who kidnapped and tortured a Miami businessman inspired Bay to make the film, gets a nice mention there at the bottom.
But come on, Paramount. What’s this “magazine” you’re talking about? Where’s the New Times love?
