Sandwiched between Joey’s Italian Cafe and Wynwood Kitchen and Bar is a portal into the evolution of street art. What was once scribbles illegally spray-painted on the sides of buildings, trash bins, and newspaper racks is now fine, museum-quality art displayed proudly on the Wynwood Walls.
Shepard Fairey, Ryan McGinness, and Nunca are just some of the artists who’ve already contributed pieces over the past few years. Tonight, 16 new works by artists like Retna, Date Farmers, Saner, and Sego will join the already impressive collection when they are unveiled to the public at 9 p.m.
And for the first time ever, works by Wynwood Walls artists will finally be available for purchase at the Shop the Walls pop up shop, which runs through December 4.
While we’d all love to drop serious coin on original, contemporary art during Basel, limited edition t-shirt and prints are much more affordable. And Shop the Walls will offer plenty of those.

Also available at the pop up show is the new Wynwood Walls book, featuring photographs by Martha Cooper and artist interviews.
Celebrating its third year, Wynwood Walls was launched during Basel 2009, a collaborative effort between developer Tony Goldman and art dealer Jeffrey Deitch. It has since become the epicenter of the Wynwood arts community and a testament to the spirt of urban revitalization.
