Gramps by the Sea to Open on Miami River

Wynwood’s Gramps is expanding to a location on the Miami River. Owner Adam Gersten received approval by the Miami River Commission Monday to begin building a two-story bar and restaurant at the 5th Street Marina. A ground-breaking date has not yet been announced.

Lime Returning to Original South Beach Location

For years, Lime Fresh Mexican Grill was the go-to place for South Beach locals to enjoy an inexpensive — yet fresh — meal.The restaurant, founded by restaurateur John Kunkel of 50 Eggs in 2004, was something of a unicorn at the time — an independently owned, fast-casual restaurant serving quality food by an attentive staff. The one-off Mexican restaurant grew to multiple locations and in 2012 sold to Ruby Tuesday Inc. for a reported $24 million. The original 800-square-foot Miami Beach location remained unchanged for a while, then was shuttered to make way for several other Kunkel ventures including BTW and Spring Chicken. Now, Lime returns to where it started — with the same recipes but new ownership.

November 2017 Miami Restaurant Openings and Closings

Wynwood Brewing’s Massive Birthday Block Party Returns

Four years ago, Wynwood Brewing Company opened its doors as the City of Miami’s first production brewery. This Saturday, December 2, it will celebrate with a massive block party. From noon to 11 p.m., NW 24th Street will be filled with food trucks, games, live music, and more than 50 kinds of beer, including a few kegs of the brewery’s holiday Coqui-To. Admission to the party is free, and beer tickets for people 21 or older cost $6.

Cvi.che 105 Opens at Aventura Mall

This Friday, December 1, Cvi.che 105, a popular Peruvian restaurant in downtown Miami and South Beach, will open on the ground floor of the new three-level wing. The eatery will offer indoor and outdoor seating and a large bar stocked with wine, beer, and spirits.

Michael Jordan and Ernie Els Opening 1000 North in Feburary

Sports celebrity Michael Jordan is one of the names behind a new Palm Beach County restaurant and private club set to debut in Jupiter later this year. The luxury dining establishment known as 1000 North, named for its address at 1000 N. U.S. Hwy. 1, will offer near panoramic views of the Jupiter Inlet and Jupiter Lighthouse.

Odd Breed Opens Florida’s First Brewery Dedicated to Wild Ales

Florida’s first brewery dedicated to American wild ales is now open in Pompano Beach. The day after Thanksgiving, Odd Breed Wild Ales owners and brewers Matt Manthe and Dan Naumko debuted their tasting room. The intimate space is located in the city’s industrial-like Old Town Pompano area.
