Black Tide Reunites at Churchill’s Headbanger’s Ball 2018

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Black Tide’s debut album, Kendall’s biggest metal band will reunite June 2 at Churchill’s Pub. For now, it’s a one-time gig, bassist Zakk Sandler explains. “People keep asking if we’re going to play more shows or if we’re going to do a record. No. We’re going to play this show, and then we’ll go from there.”

Gramps’ ’90s Cover Show Lets You Actually Party Like It’s 1999

“Having a beach in your backyard” is what novelist and New Times contributor David Rolland loved most about growing up on Key Biscayne in the ’80s and ’90s. It was a time of transition on the then-underdeveloped key. Original Mackle houses were being demolished and McMansions being built. A hint of wild, empty land…

Are the Pixies Playing a Secret Show at Revolution Live?

Yesterday the Fort Lauderdale music venue Revolution Live issued a news release announcing an act called Debaser will play there Thursday, June 21. Ever heard of Debaser? Me neither. But because “Debaser” is the name of one of my favorite songs by the Pixies, I scrolled down the screen, eager for more info. Under the “who” subheading of the news release, where normally every facet of a band’s existence is usually recounted, all it said was: “DEBASER – A CULT BAND!”

Morrissey May Be a Bigmouth, but We Still Have the Music of the Smiths

For all of his witticisms and clever turns of phrase, Morrissey is essentially childish. He lives in an exaggerated realm where every inconvenience is a misery and every naysayer a flatulent pain in the arse. So the tribute band Ordinary Boys might be the most ideal way to enjoy the Smiths — it’s Morrissey without Morrissey.

III Points Skips 2018, Announces Move to February

It’s been five years since III Points made its debut, offering Miami a boutique music festival experience if there ever was one. Instead of concentrating on big names or mainstream trends, III Points has kept its focus squarely on the underground. At the same time, it has become one of the few local music festivals that allowed homegrown acts to share the stage with national ones.

Rolling Loud 2018: Winners and Losers

So much could have gone wrong at Rolling Loud 2018. Hard Rock Stadium had never seen an event of its size and scale, and the organizers had to build a small city in the parking lot to bring it all together. But mercifully, the weekend was disaster-free. Although there were early issues, the rest of the weekend went off without a hitch.
