“It’s a hell of a lot better than Miami Spice”, is the brash assertion that begins a promo for Wine69‘s 3-course, $29.95 “MiMo Spice Dinner”. Diners are promised a “more substantial dinner, not the reduced portions of Miami Spice”. Whoa — them’s fightin’ words!
The MiMo Spice meal at this popular wine bar and bistro will offer choice of poached pear salad or scallop/salmon terrine for starter; poached cod in romaine leaves or crispy roasted half duck with pink grapefruit bigarade for entree; and tarte tatin or créme brûlée for dessert.
Wine69’s motto is “wine for pairing, food for sharing”, and there is a wide selection of boutique wines on hand, with some 40 by-the-glass. Live music too, every Friday and Saturday night from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., including artists such as the Flamenco trio Gypsy Cat and bluesman Big Poppa E.
And that’s why owner Ben Neji thinks MiMo Spice at Wine69 is a hell of a lot better than Miami Spice anywhere else.
