Baby Anne, the self-proclaimed “Bass Queen,” delivers the electro-funk breaks made harsh with a serpentine version of Miami’s trademark trunk-rattling thunder. Lasher is confident enough to brazenly reference Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, and other New Wave classics, and the darkness of her mixes might give even the surliest trance acolyte reason to reconsider breakbeat’s dregs.
