Mr. Moonlight’s been caught.

Two weeks ago, Peter Murphy announced a tour “celebrating 35 years of Bauhaus,” for which he will be traveling to Miami’s Grand Central, as well as 51 other North American and European cities.

Over the weekend, though, he was cruising through Glendale, California, in his Subaru Forester when he allegedly rear-ended a Mercedes and fled the scene, according to our sister paper LA Weekly.

Once the cops finally cuffed the former Bauhaus frontman, they apparently also discovered a bag of meth.

According to the Weekly (and the Glendale News-Press), Murphy was booked “on suspicion of causing injury while DUI, felony hit-and-run, and possession of meth.”

The sequence of events: After smashing into the Mercedes, the musician reportedly sped off down the freeway with a “good Samaritan” in pursuit. Eventually trapped, he was held by the citizen until L.A. County Sheriffs arrived on the scene. Under questioning, Murphy told cops that he wasn’t drunk, just jet-lagged and the only drug in his system was depression medication. However, the officers claim to have found that baggy of meth, even saying the ex-Bauhaus member was attempting to ditch the stuff.

Since Saturday, about 3:20 p.m., Murphy’s been in jail. He was slated to appear in court today. But so far, there have been no changes to the Mr. Moonlight tour, including the Miami gig.

According to a Grand Central rep: “The show is still on as far as we’re concerned. We haven’t received any info from agent/management stating otherwise.”
