After catching a nasty case of seasonal influenza, grunge-y sex symbol, former Soundgarden singer, and current acoustic crooner Chris Cornell was forced to cancel last night’s unplugged gig in Miami.
“Due to laryngitis caused by flu, Chris Cornell is unable to perform tonight,” the official Live Nation cancelation announcement explained. “He apologizes to his fans who traveled to see him perform, but tonight’s show at the Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach must be postponed.”
The ex-Audioslave vocalist has been sick for a week now. On November 2, Cornell canceled a concert in Nashville, tweeting that his children should be blamed for screwing up this intimate and unique man-on-a-guitar Songbook tour.
And all weekend, Cornell had struggled to kick the bug while hoping to resume his road schedule. He’s waited until the last minute. But ultimately, he had to delay concerts in Orlando on Friday, Tampa on Saturday, and Miami on Sunday.
