It’s been a while since we’ve heard any new music news from the Coldplay camp. There have been talks of a new album to be released sometime in 2010, but as frontman Chris Martin said at yesterday’s Apple Music Conference in San Francisco, they’re “working on it.”
Good news for die-hard fans, though. He previewed a new, never before heard-of “not even by their rivals” song, titled “Wedding Bells.”
Before he did, though, he cracked up tech geeks by poking fun at “designing the song” and naming it “Coldplay 2.6” and saying “it has a lot of features like seven different kinds of chord” to cheers and uproarious laughter.
The song, he admitted, “might not ever even come out,” so lucky for us, there is video. The story starts sadly, with lines like “all kinds of poison in my blood/ I lost the only thing I ever loved.” The lyrics are downright depressing. But it all ends on a somewhat happy note with lines like “But I always loved you and I always will.” Aww. But is he trying to hint at something?

The irony that Chris Martin performed at the Apple conference, and not for his daughter, Apple, is not lost on us. But he managed to be witty and rocked a Flaming Lips T-Shirt, so he’s alright in our book.
