On October 6, booty bass boss, First Amendment enthusiast, and weekly New Times columnist Luther Campbell (AKA Uncle Luke) issued an ultimatum to Weezy’s YMCMB crew and other “freeloading” rappers like them.
“I have a message for Lil Wayne, his Cash Money brothers, DJ Khaled, Puff Daddy, and all the rappers from other parts of the country who now live in Miami,” Luke wrote. “I’m tired of seeing you cats soak up our sunshine, take over our nightclubs, and sleep with our women without investing anything into the community.”
“They got until January 1. If I don’t see them giving back to the Magic City, I’m gonna have their Miami cards revoked.”
Needless to say, Weezy wasn’t havin’ none of that shit, tweeting, “This Nigga Luke trippin!!!” And now Young Money labelmate Drake’s droppin’ disses too.

On the latest single, “The Motto,” off his forthcoming sophomore slab Take Care, Drizzy gets to shit-talking Luke straight away, spitting a sharp-tongued verse that calls out the ex-2 Live Crew hypeman.
“Tell Uncle Luke I’m out in Miami too/Clubbin’ hard, fuckin’ women, there ain’t much to do,” Drake croaks. “Wrist bling, got a condo up on Biscayne/Still gettin’ brain from a thang, ain’t shit change.”
Looks like the days of rap beef are back. Except, unlike the ’90s, the feuds aren’t going down in the streets. It’s all about curt tweets, diss tracks, and editorials. Still, Crossfade can’t wait for Luke’s next column.
Drizzy, watch out!
