We all breathed really heavy sighs when we heard that Metallica was going to release a DVD along with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer, but realized they won’t be joining them for their October 3 South Florida show. After all, what’s real metal fan doesn’t have a little Metallica stashed away in their collections?

Well, the real Metallica hasn’t made any Florida tour announcements, but we may have come across the next best thing: A Metallica Tribute Show. Their former bassist Cliff Burton passed away on September 27, 1986, and to honor him, 10 bands will take to two stages to perform covers of Metallica’s best songs, along with their own originals. You can also catch some rare live Metallica videos and remixes between sets.
Tobacco Road will be hosting the shindig next Saturday, with
Kryptic Throne, Paralysys, Silenmara, Anger the Gods, Half Head, Mixed
Breed, Naked Vengence, ShadowKast, Metrailerca, and Words of Caution.
Phew. That’s a lot of metal.
But before you put up your devil horns, there’s more. There will be an
air guitar competition, with the winner receiving a “brand new, any
make, model, and color of their choice air guitar,” plus $100 cash. You
know, for those of you that already have way too many air guitars lying
around.
Metallica Tribute Show, Saturday, September 25 at Tobacco Road. Doors open at 8pm, Ages 21+. Admission is $10. For more information, visit tobacco-road.com.
