As we approach the June 8 release of South Florida native Uffie’s debut album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans, the leakiness will likely turn into a full-on gush soon enough. A radio rip of her electro-heavy upcoming single “ADD SUV” featuring Pharrell, is currently making the blog rounds, and as the Prophet Blog says, it’s probably “too alternative for American audiences.”
Now, some folks who aren’t quite so much on Ke$ha’s pop jock will appreciate that the use of auto-tune here is darker and more inventive, and the production via Mirawais kinda bangs. By the time Pharrell drops his verse, the retro keyboard lines have built several jagged themes that all work together, but aren’t painful pandering to ringtone sales. Although, with a title like “ADD SUV,” there’s probably some Scion money to be had here.
