Nobody in Miami has been a bigger booster of the local quartet the Jean Marie than Lolo Reskin of Sweat Records. So where else would the band celebrate its latest album release than at the Vagabond’s Friday party, which Lolo helps throw? So this edition celebrates Annie Jump Cannon, the group’s first full-length release, following a pair of EPs.

The 11 tracks demonstrate a further honing of the Jean Marie’s sound,a party-ready brand of power-pop with just enough synth and emotive singing to hint at New Wave, without falling into a retro-throwback rut. No stranger to the occasional arty ballad, the band is nevertheless at its best at full throttle, with twisted, soul-infused post-punk verse somehow leading into arena-size choruses.

Friday, January 23. The Vagabond, 30 NE 11th St., Miami. Doors open at 10 p.m. Admission is free before midnight, then $5 until 3 a.m. Ages 21+ with ID. 305-379-0508; www.thevagabondmiami.com.
