We here at Crossfade can’t wait to get back to doin’ the Backyard Boogie, gettin’ drunk in the midafternoon, just straight sippin’ from a pitcher of cold brew at Wood Tavern.

So it’s exciting to hear that the Wynwood hangout could be getting an OK from the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue to unshutter “the outside part of Wood” before the end of this week.

UPDATE Wood Tavern has announced that it’ll be reopening the backyard on February 22 with free tacos and open bar. “Woohoo!!! Tonight!!!”

“The Fire Inspector came and told us,” owner Cesar Morales wrote, “that we could NOT open the back part of Wood.”

On Friday evening, Morales and Wood were still waiting on their appointment with the inspector.

But today, the owner met with City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue officials. And the bad news has gotten a lil’ better.

So let’s hope we all don’t have to go another Sunday with no Backyard Boogie (our favorite).
