Each music festival has its “highlights.” The reason we describe the best moments this way is to make you feel like you missed out. You can’t have it all, and we want you to know that life is cruel.
This past weekend at Wynwood’s inaugural III Points Festival, YACHT mastered the whole highlight thing with its performance at Cafeina’s DFA BBQ. The Portland foursome’s set kicked off with a skinny, cute gay kid in the audience screaming out to founding member Jona Bechtolt something like: “Do you deep throat?!” Soon after, the band slapped Miami all over and slathered it with sonic love. The Magic City danced, it perspired, it yelped with pleasure.
It was an intimate moment, fun times, a freaking highlight. Then after the show, we chatted with the smart and funny pair, Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans, about the four important and timely Ps: punk, penis, Portland, and politics.
