Dwyane Wade really likes socks. According to his old teammate LeBron James, he likes to paint his toenails black and then immediately put socks on and wear them all the time. Maybe he’s got an issue with his feet, but regardless, the man really loves socks. He also really loves Miami. Other guys might have ditched town for a more certain future and a bigger payday, but Wade has taken multiple pay cuts to stay in town.
So for supertrendy sock company Stance, he’s decided to combine those two loves in his latest line, inspired by the character of Miami.
“I am excited to launch my new collection paying tribute to a special city I call home,” Wade says in a release. “The collection captures the pulse and energy of Miami with its unique architecture, sophisticated style, and iconic design.”

Things start off pretty obvious with the Ponce. Cars, palm trees, art deco design, bright colors, sidewalk café umbrellas — and just in case you couldn’t tell which city has influenced Wade, the word “Miami” is right there to remind you.
Things get a bit less obvious with the Gatsby, but the art deco influence is there. The Dolphins colors are also unmistakable.
Then we have the Bora, which juxtaposes a classic deco arch with the international symbol for Wi-Fi. Perhaps this is Wade’s way of advocating Miami as the tech hub of the future through the medium of sock design.
But it’s not just South Beach from which the line draws inspiration. There’s some clear Wynwood influence in the Kane, and apparently Wade really, really likes the paint job on New Times‘ HQ.
But it’s soon back to the Beach for some more deco influence.
