If you’re going to break in and steal items from cars, targeting the valet garage at the ritzy Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach isn’t a bad idea. It’s also a good idea to make sure you’ve gotten a full night’s rest before attempting such a heist. Nineteen-year-old Joe Jesus German was one good idea short of getting away with the crime.
German gained access to the valet garage at the Fontainebleau early Sunday morning. The place was likely loaded with fancy cars full of fancy goods as guests were likely dining at Hakkasan, partying at LIV, or staying in their $900-a-night rooms.
He broke into several cars and swiped property. Security apparently was none the wiser, and German entered one car and curled up in the back seat before dosing off.
Eventually the vehicle’s owner got his car from the valet attendant, who hadn’t noticed the burglar. As the owner began driving down Collins Avenue, he saw German asleep in the back seat.

The driver called police, and they found keys from several cars and stolen goods. The teen was arrested and charged with burglary.
