Hialeah Police Sgt. Tomas Muñoz wants you to know he’s not some sort of coke fiend. He’s merely an innocent public servant who happens to be dating a prostitute with an evil pimp.
Muñoz was arrested over the weekend on charges of possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia after drugs and a crack pipe were found in a hotel room he had rented with the woman.
But Muñoz claims he was set up.
“This all came about from a love story. I met a girl, she happens to have a pimp, and we fell in love. He doesn’t let her be free,” Muñoz told CBS Miami. “I mean, this came about because he set the whole thing up.”

Muñoz appeared in court Sunday and bonded out of jail on a $6,000 bail. An officer with the department since 1998, Muñoz is now suspended and on at-home status pending the outcome of the case.
The sergeant seems hopeful his name will be cleared.
“Right now I’m dealing with this moment right here, and I’m good,” he said. “I’m going to be good no matter what.”
