The surest way to know that the LeBron James sweepstakes has gone way past sports interest into a full-blown pop culture phenomenon: Us Weekly, which usually writes about the state of Brangelina, is claiming an exclusive. The tabloid claims James has rented out six cabanas at the W Hotel in South Beach this weekend, apparently to celebrate his signing with the Heat.
Us doesn’t elaborate much beyond that, besides saying he’ll spend Saturday night in NYC attending the wedding of Carmelo Anthony’s wedding to former MTV VJ Lala Vazquez.
Yesterday, we heard LeBron has booked part of the Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key, so who knows? Maybe these hotels are just looking to jump on the publicity wagon?
Update: The New York Post‘s infamous gossip column, Page Six, has also heard the rumor. It’s saying James has booked 25 rooms at the hotel.
