Miami Beach police are on the lookout for a man who followed an unsuspecting woman into her Ocean Drive hotel room, overpowered her, and then raped her.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, September 6. The victim, a Swiss tourist, was walking into the Hotel Breakwater at 940 Ocean Dr. around 4:30 a.m. when the suspect followed her in.

The two do not know each other and had not met earlier in the night. The suspect told the woman that he was staying on the same floor that she was. They rode the elevator up together, but when the doors opened to the woman’s floor, the suspect physically overpowered her and forced her into her room. He later sexually battered her.

Afterward, the man took off with his victim’s cash.
