Yet another Miami-Dade Police officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law. Midwest District Officer Joey Ganem, 47, has been arrested after allegedly trying to buy cocaine in Coconut Grove early this morning. Ganem, a 27-year veteran of the force, has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the case.

Ganem’s arrest apparently wasn’t random as NBC Miami reports he was taken in by internal affairs investigators from his own force, and not the City of Miami police who usually patrol the Grove.

Ganem was stopped at 3 a.m. this morning at SW 37th Avenue and 29th Street after the officers spotted Ganem buying the drugs. They quickly found the drugs on his person after the stop.

Ganem has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
