A bizarre incident this morning involving a Florida Department of Environmental Protection officer and an apparently naked suspect ended up with the officer taking bullets to his hand while the au natural suspect was Tasered.
The incident occurred around 10:20 am near U.S.1 and SW 344th Street in Florida City.
DEP officers are not law enforcement cops, but are authorized to make arrests. For unknown reasons the officer pulled the suspect’s van over. The incident turned violent, and the suspect reached for the officers gun. During the struggle the gun was fired several times, and the officer took bullets to his hands.
The suspect was apparently naked during the scuffle, but it’s not clear if he was already naked when he was pulled over.

Another officer arrived on the scene and Tasered the suspect’s nude body.
The officer will undergo surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
