Willie Walden was co-director of North Miami’s Police Athletic League and a school resources officer who patrolled the campuses of North Miami High School, North Miami Middle School and several elementary schools. His job was to keep kids safe, but now the 48-year-old officer has been relieved of duties following accusations he had sex with an underage student.
As co-director of the city’s PAL, he earned respect in the community and helped secure separate facilities for the program.Through the program and its various after-school activities, Walden was responsible ;for over-seeing nearly 600 students each year in addition to his role as a school resource officer.
On November 10, Walden was relieved of his duties. The North Miami Police Department had received a complaint that Walden had sex with an underage student. Police are investigating the charges, though Walden has not officially been charged with any crimes as of yet.
