It takes a lot to scare Stephen King, the master of horror fiction, but apparently the author is plain old terrified of our new governor, Rick Scott. King, who spends his winters in Casey Key near Sarasota, spoke at an “Awake the State” rally yesterday and joked, “Maybe my next horror novel will star Rick Scott.”
Several “Awake the State” demonstrations were held across Florida to protest budget cuts and to protect education, veterans’ services, and unions.
King was perhaps the most high-profile attendee, and according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, he didn’t have many nice words for the governor.
We patiently await King’s next novel. Perhaps Scott can star in a sequel to It, but instead of killing kids, he murders funding for their schools, after-school programs, and other initiatives.
