The kickoff of the Miami Hurricanes-Kansas State Wildcats game has been delayed 30 minutes due to lightning, but there’s a far more baffling display of nature going on at Sun Life Stadium right now. The bowl has been invaded by thousands of dragonflies.

Here’s a pic of the swarm from Twitter user @EricEspada, who adds, “If you are afraid of dragonflys do not head to Sun Life Stadium. There are a million of them flying in the stadium.”

Several other Twitter users are confirming the infestation.

“Nevin Shapiro is bad enough but when a plague of dragonflies delays your game, Someone is sending a message,” writes Cecil Hurt.

“Game didnt even start yet and this is crazy. dragonflys took over the student section,” writes @TheGregWhite.

We’ll keep you updated on Dragonfly Swarm ’11 if there are any further developments. (Got more pics? Send them our way.) In the meantime, the game is now scheduled to begin at 3:59 and is being broadcast on ESPNU and WatchESPN.com.
