Owners of one in 62 homes in the Miami area filed for foreclosure in the last quarter alone, which makes the city the tenth hardest hit in the country. Ouch. Sometimes there’s no money left at the end of the month to make your mortgage payment when you’re filling up with $4 gas, feeding your face with whoppers, and dropping $1500 on a Karl Lagerfeld Teddy bear.
Foreclosures aren’t like wild fires in the “only you can prevent them” sense, however there are steps you can take to make sure your house isn’t the one to go into foreclosure on your 62 home block. The PMI Group and the Hope Now Alliance will be hosting an event tomorrow with representatives from dozens of major lending banks, debt counselors, financial experts, and other respectable people in nice suits who will be prepared to speak one-on-one with homeowners who are in trouble.
The workshop will be held at the Graham Center Ballrooms on the FIU Campus at 1112000 Southwest 8th St from 10 to 3pm.
