A police chase almost turned tragic last night when the driver of a stolen SUV hit two young boys playing in front of their grandfather’s house.

The incident occurred last night near NW 39th Place in Miami Gardens. The suspect has stolen the vehicle and was driving at speeds up to 90 mph in the residential neighborhood while trying to evade police.

Before hitting the boys, the driver also hit several other vehicles but never stopped.

“A big boom, a big boom. I jumped up and ran out and I saw the commotion,” James Ridely, the victims’ grandfather, told WSVN. “One of my grandkids was lying in the street, and one was lying against the fence.”

The driver never even stopped after hitting the two boys. He sped away, but eventually decided to bail out of the car and try to escape on foot. Police were able to capture him a few blocks away.

The boys, identified by WSVN as Willy and Jermaine, were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where luckily they are expected to be OK.
