Pain & Gain opens tomorrow. And when it does, Miami’s gym culture, New Times, and our city’s seedy underbelly will have their moment in the sun — their steroid-fueled, bicep-bulging, vein-popping 15 minutes of fame.
If you’re a dude (or a chick — we don’t discriminate) who wants to score a ridiculous bod like those on display by the stars of the movie, you’re in luck.
Dwayne Johnson, AKA the Rock (who looks more like a hulking beast than a man in the movie) has been sharing his workout and eating habits via Twitter over the past several months. Between filming GI Joe: Retaliation and Pain & Gain, the dude is jacked. Those shoulders — have you SEEN those shoulders?
If you thought it wasn’t easy being the human version of the Hulk, you’re right. His workout photos and eating regimen are the stuff superheroes are made of. Other than the obvious routine — hours a day spent at the gym lifting weights the size of a Bugatti — his diet was insane.

According to his Twitter feed, the Rock’s gym-day meals included some of the following less-than-appetizing treats: chicken breast, white rice, and Cream of Wheat; cod and white rice; 12 eggs, a steak, and five packets of Cream of Wheat. Yum.
But on cheat days, he ate like a fat kid with a tapeworm. One day, he posted a photo of himself flexing, with the caption “12 pizzas. Sent by my 2 agents. Dominated by 1 man. “
He told the media he’d eat “at least a dozen pancakes… four pizzas… two dozen brownies and [I] dominate everything.”
Such indulgences were backed up by photographic evidence. So yeah, pushing 300 pounds of solid muscle isn’t all sweat and sacrifice.
And while Johnson is recovering from hernia surgery after his last Wrestlemania bout left him ripped and torn, it’s pretty clear that nothing short of Kryptonite is gonna slow this monster of a man down.
