Did you know that according to 2006 census data almost three quarters of Dade County residents speak either Spanish or some variant (i.e. Spanglish)? And most of those people also sing en Español. That’s partly why we here at Miami New Times are actively seeking bilingual freelance writers for our print paper and Crossfade music blog.
As an addition to New Times‘ existing roster of Spanish-speaking music writers, you would be expected to cover any and all sonic phenomena of the Latin variety, from salsa, Afro-Cuban, and reggaeton to Latin pop, bachata, and Calle Ocho punk.
Assignments would include concert previews, show reviews, and interviews that may require Spanish-to-English translation.
