Grand Central is on fire ever since it celebrated its official opening. Regular weekly parties on Friday and Saturday nights are bustling (it seems aiming for a lower age restriction of 18 was particularly wise), and a number of live performances keep getting added to the line-up.
Last week we announced the Overthrow’s June 19 booking of Theophilus London for the venue, and in this week’s issue of Miami New Times, the Night & Day section gives you the scoop on Afrobeta’s tour send-off there this Saturday. Just announced, though, are a trio of shows for Latin music fans:
- Colombian duo Aterciopelados, Thursday, June 10
- Argentine ska-fusion big band Los Autenticos Decadentes, Sunday, June 13
- Latin rasta-rocker Fidel Nadal, Friday, July 16
Of course, for the Anglophone, Anglophile indie crowd, there’s still the amazing upcoming June 12 show, celebrating Poplife’s official anniversary, with performances by Hooray for Earth, Surfer Blood, and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart.
The varied selection so far shows that despite the Poplife-y origins of Grand Central, would-be naysayers can rest easy that the lineup of events there should be more diverse than initially imagined. Its official web site has most of the major events listings up on the main page, but for now, we suggest becoming a fan of Grand Central on Facebook for the most up-to-the-minute information.
