With the line between Miami’s slow season and the onslaught of tourists becoming ever more blurred, there is perhaps one event that dictates the beginning of fall: the opening of Knaus Berry Farm.
The Redland bakery/farm stand, which is open seasonally from November through mid-April, opened a touch earlier this year, welcoming lengthy lines for its addictive cinnamon rolls and strawberry milkshakes Tuesday, October 28. This is also the time of year when Florida farmers begin their harvest during the state’s whacky reversed farming season. Prepare to see a lot more “local” on menus in the next couple of months.
For years Knaus Berry Farm has opened in early November. A couple of employees we spoke with this morning had no idea why Knaus’ season this year began earlier than usual. Doesn’t matter. All we know is that it opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. every day of the week except Sunday, so get yourself in gear. Homestead is a short ride.
