Snackdown: Coconut Grove, Downtown, Coral Gables Move Into the Semi-Finals

Over the next few weeks, Short Order will pair eight Miami-Dade neighborhoods in a “Snackdown”. This is the first semi-final round-up. This afternoon we’ll pit Coconut Grove against Downtown Miami. Which one is the better neighborhood for dining?

More power to ya, Miami. You really hit us with a curveball for the first three semi-finalists. A combined 1,083 votes named Coconut Grove, Downtown and Coral Gables our first Snackdown semi-finalists (still pending results for Aventura/North Miami Beach vs. Midtown/Design District). At 1 p.m. this afternoon, we’ll pit The Grove and Downtown. Don’t forget to vote! Whoever wins will battle in the finals.

Coconut Grove vs. South Beach
With almost 700 votes, Miami decided South Beach just didn’t cut it when it came to the dining scene. Commenters voiced the hassles of parking, towing, tourists, and claimed South Beach was tacky in comparison to “the fantabulous Grove”. No need to worry, folks. SoBe’s out now.

Downtown vs. Mid Beach
Over 68 percent of the vote named Downtown the winner in this battle. Clearly, places like Van Aken’s Tuyo, Edge at the Four Seasons, and Zuma pleased your palates more than Shareef Malnik’s The Forge and Katana.

Coral Gables vs. Little Havana
In the second most heated battle of Snackdown, the supporters of The Gables and Little Havana really got riled up. Leaving behind neighborhood favorites like Hy Vong, Catharsis and Versailles, Coral Gables swooped the win with 60 percent of the vote. Can Eating House, Route 9 and Pascal’s now claim victory? Not just yet. The winner of Aventura vs. Midtown will battle The Gables on Tuesday.
