Promises.

In July, UR1 Festival organizers pledged to bring “a true celebration of art and music” to this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach week.

But two weeks ago, after assembling an awesome two-day “EDM, pop, hip-hop, and rock” lineup led by Kanye West and Lou Reed, “The UR1 Music & Art Festival Family” was forced to postpone “due to circumstances beyond our control.”

Some scoffed at UR1’s claim that the cause of its postponement was “foreseeable inclement weather conditions in the Miami-Dade and South Florida region” and the “continued effects of the recent Hurricane Sandy.”

C’mon … How could they possibly predict that the weather’s gonna suck in 18 days?

There have also been grumblings about the festival’s unwillingness to refund ticketholders’ cash. And there’s been widespread doubt about whether UR1 will ever actually reschedule, especially with a roster as stacked as Yeezy, Lou, Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, Jane’s Addiction, Slash, Peter Murphy, Fun., Ghostland Observatory, Reboot, Dan Deacon …

But today, “as a courtesy to loyal fans and customers,” the “UR1 Music & Art Festival Team” offered free Basel concert tickets while also providing a timeline for further festival news.
