Downtown Miami’s Arts & Entertainment District is getting another notch in its belt.

The Urbanite Bistro (62 NE 14 St, across the street from The Vagabond), serving what a press release calls “eclectic bistro fare” is scheduled to open to the public September 10th.

The press release says it’s an 83 seat restaurant (52 dining, 38 bar), but somebody needs to check their math because 52 + 38 = 90.

The proprietors are Elliott Alexander and Eskander Haider. According to CorporationWiki they previously partnered in Sobe Sushi Inc., headquartered one block south of their new restaurant. That corporation is currently inactive.

The executive chef is Frank Imbarlina (click for bio), according to his website, a 20 year vet who has worked in Philly, NYC and Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The menu features a “tastings” section with items like alligator egg rolls (with mango roasted jalapeno cream). Entrees emphasize game and seasonal produce including roasted boar tenderloin (shoyu glazed and pecan crusted with purple sticky rice and grilled broccoli rabe), ancho glazed grouper (with cucumber salsa, blue cornbread, sautéed broccoli and malanga), organic roasted poussin (with challah stuffing, seasonal vegetable succotash and papaya-rum marmalade).

Urbanite Bistro also promises a monthly rotating gallery of local artists.

As of today UrbaniteBistro.com is just a front page with an under construction sign. The reservation line is 305-374-0662.

UPDATE: According to a phone call and email from a PR flack, the

incorrect math was the product of a “computer malfunction” and that “the

seat number changed at the last minute.” A revised fact sheet was

promptly sent to Short Order thus confirming that 52 + 38 does in fact
